Who Is a Good Candidate for Juvederm?

reno juvederm

If you’ve been considering a treatment to help you look younger and more refreshed, Reno Juvederm may be the perfect option for you. This cosmetic injectable helps add volume and hydration to your skin, smoothing out lines and wrinkles. Here at Reno-Sparks Med Spa in Reno, NV, we offer this treatment and want to make sure that everyone who is interested in our services can benefit from them. Keep reading to find out if you are eligible for our treatment!

Who Is a Good Candidate for Juvederm?

Understand What JUVÉDERM® Is

Reno Juvederm is a clear gel that is injected into the skin to help smooth away wrinkles. It contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the body. This treatment is used to improve the appearance of several types of wrinkles, including crow’s feet, smile lines, and forehead lines. The results are temporary, and you will need to repeat the treatment to maintain the results.

The different types of Juvéderm treatments are: Juvéderm Voluma XC, Juvéderm Vollure XC, Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC, Juvéderm Ultra XC, and Juvéderm Volbella XC. Each type of treatment is made with a different formulation of hyaluronic acid to address specific needs.

Qualities That Determine If You’re a Good Candidate

1. You’re Generally Healthy

One of the most important things to consider before getting any kind of cosmetic injectable is your overall health. Your body’s immune system plays an important role in how well you will tolerate the treatment, and if you have any chronic illnesses or conditions that affect your immune system, you may not be a good candidate for Reno Juvederm.

2. You Have Realistic Expectations for the Results

When it comes to facial injectables, it’s important to have realistic expectations about the results. Reno Juvederm is a great product that can produce fantastic results, but it’s not a magic wand. In order to be a good candidate for Reno Juvederm, you need to have reasonable goals and a healthy attitude. First, speak to us about your expectations.

We’ll be honest with you about what results are achievable and which aren’t. Once you have a clear understanding of what’s achievable, it’s time to start conditioning your mind for success. Remember, even small changes can make a big difference in how you look and feel. By setting realistic expectations and conditioning your mind for the change, you can ensure that you’ll be happy with your results.

3. You Are Willing To Follow Post-Treatment Instructions

In order to maintain the results of treatment, patients must be willing to follow certain post-treatment instructions. Following these simple instructions will help to ensure that treatments are successful and the results are long-lasting. Below are some essential instructions to follow for optimal results:

(i) No Strenuous Activities for 24 Hours

We always recommend patients avoid any strenuous activities for at least 24 hours after receiving Juvéderm injections. This includes activities such as exercise, jogging, tennis, etc. Strenuous activities can cause the injected area to become swollen and bruised. In addition, such activities can cause the product to spread to other areas, resulting in an uneven appearance.

(ii) Avoid Touching the Injection Site

Touching or massaging the site can cause the filler to move out of place, resulting in uneven results. In addition, touching or massaging can increase the risk of bruising and swelling. If you experience any discomfort at the injection site, please contact our doctor. We will be able to provide guidance on how to best care for the area.

(iii) Do Not Drink Alcohol or Caffeine for 24 Hours

Alcohol and caffeine can both cause dehydration, which can in turn lead to dryness and flakiness of the skin. This is problematic because Juvéderm works by adding hydration and volume to the skin. Therefore, it is crucial to avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours after treatment to help the skin retain its moisture and achieve optimal results. If you do feel dehydrated, be sure to drink plenty of water.

(iv) Elevate Your Head When You Sleep

Elevating your head when you sleep after treatment will help prevent bruising and swelling. Sleeping in this position will also help the injected gel settle into place. We recommend that you sleep with your head elevated for at least the first 48 hours after treatment. You may also want to consider sleeping on your back during this time.

(v) Avoid Excessive Heat

Excessive heat can increase swelling and bruising. Do not go in a sauna, steam room, hot tub, or spa for at least 24 hours following your injection. Also, do not expose the area to intense sunlight or UV rays for at least 24 hours post-injection, as this can increase the risk of side effects. If you must be out in the sun, wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat.

(vi) Do Not Apply Any Cosmetics or Skincare Products for 24 Hours

Some cosmetics or skincare products contain ingredients that can cause irritation or allergic reactions. Additionally, these products can also interfere with the healing process. If you must apply makeup, be sure to use a hypoallergenic product and avoid applying it directly to the treated area.

4. You Should Be at Least 21 Years Old

The FDA hasn’t approved lip fillers, including those of the Juvéderm family for anyone under the age of 21. The agency is still studying the long-term effects of these treatments and how they might interact with a patient’s natural aging process. While there have been no reports of serious adverse reactions in patients under 21, the FDA feels that more research is needed before giving its seal of approval.

5. You Should Have Healthy Skin

Certain skin conditions may increase your risk of developing side effects. For example, those with a history of cold sores may experience reactivation after treatment. In addition, patients with active acne or other inflammatory skin conditions may also be advised against injections. If you are interested in Juvederm treatments, be sure to consult with us to discuss whether or not your skin is healthy enough to undergo treatment.

6. You Are Not Taking Blood Thinners or Aspirin Products

Blood thinners and aspirin can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. As a result, it is crucial to stop taking these medications at least seven days before your treatment. If you are unsure whether or not you should stop taking your medications, speak to us about it during consultation and we will help you make the best decision.

Can Pregnant or Breastfeeding Mothers Get Juvederm Treatments?

There is currently no data supporting or refuting the safety of Reno Juvederm treatments for pregnant or breastfeeding women. The injectable gel is made of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that naturally occurs in your skin.  This makes it safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. As always, it’s crucial to discuss your individual situation with us in order to assess your risks and make the best decision for your health and wellbeing.

How Long Does Treatment Last?

The treatment process usually takes about 15 minutes to complete. During this time, the doctor will inject Juvéderm into the injection site. The amount of gel used will depend on the size of the treatment area and the desired results. Once the injectable is in place, the doctor will massage the area to ensure that it is evenly distributed.
