What Is Skin Rejuvenation? 

Skin rejuvenation refers to a range of treatments that refresh the appearance and function of your skin by addressing fine lines, sun damage, uneven tone, and loss of elasticity. At our med spa, we use technologies like lasers, microneedling, radiofrequency, and injectables to improve texture, tighten skin, and restore a more even, healthy look. You do not need surgery to see noticeable improvement in the way your skin looks and feels.

What Can Skin Rejuvenation Address? 

• Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Repeated facial movement, sun exposure, and collagen loss can lead to visible lines around the eyes, forehead, and mouth. Our treatments smooth the skin and stimulate collagen.
• Uneven Pigmentation and Age Spots: Pigment buildup from sun exposure or inflammation can leave the skin blotchy or discolored. We treat this using laser or IPL devices along with topical products when pigment sits closer to the surface.

Injectables

Botox® Wrinkle Treatments

Botox treats expression lines that form from repeated facial movement across the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. We inject it directly into the facial muscles to temporarily relax their activity, which reduces the pulling that causes wrinkles to deepen. Botox interrupts the signals that tell the muscles to move, and treatments are long-lasting but temporary, which gives you flexibility in your treatment plan.

JUVÉDERM®

The JUVÉDERM collection includes several hyaluronic acid-based fillers. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and binds it in the skin, which adds structure and hydration where volume has decreased. Each JUVÉDERM product has a slightly different consistency and is intended for specific areas. We select formulas based on where you want a subtle lift.

• JUVÉDERM ULTRA XC: We typically use JUVÉDERM ULTRA XC to enhance the lips and define their shape. It also works well for treating fine vertical lip lines that can develop above the mouth.
• JUVÉDERM ULTRA PLUS XC: JUVÉDERM ULTRA PLUS XC has a thicker consistency that makes it suitable for deeper folds, such as nasolabial creases and marionette lines. It provides more noticeable volume and lasts slightly longer in areas with frequent movement.
• JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC: We often recommend JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA XC for patients who want subtle lip enhancement or to smooth fine lines around the mouth. It also works well under the eyes to soften tear trough hollows and improve the appearance of dark circles.
• JUVÉDERM VOLLURE® XC: JUVÉDERM VOLLURE XC is designed for moderate to deep facial wrinkles around the lower face. It helps soften smile lines and marionette folds while preserving natural facial movement.

Laser Treatments

Laser treatments use focused light energy to improve skin tone, texture, and clarity by targeting pigmentation, redness, or surface irregularities. Some lasers stimulate collagen remodeling by heating and ablating the skin, while others break apart pigment or coagulate blood vessels. We select devices based on your skin type, concern, and how much downtime you are comfortable with.

• PicoSure Laser Treatments: PicoSure uses ultra-short pulses to target pigmentation, sun spots, and tattoos without damaging surrounding skin. It also helps improve skin texture and tone with a gentler recovery.
• MedLite C6 Laser: We use the MedLite C6 for pigment irregularities, sun damage, acne scars, and certain birthmarks. It delivers Q-switched laser energy that breaks pigment into smaller particles, which the body gradually clears.
• CO2RE Laser: The CO2RE is a powerful resurfacing laser that removes layers of damaged skin and triggers collagen production. It treats deep wrinkles, acne scars, rough texture, and uneven tone, especially in lighter skin types.
• Candela Vbeam Perfecta Laser: The Vbeam is ideal for vascular concerns such as rosacea, facial veins, and persistent redness. It uses pulsed-dye laser energy to target blood vessels and reduce flushing and broken capillaries.
• Gentle YAG Pro Laser: This laser works well for hair removal, spider veins, and vascular lesions on the face and legs. Its 1064 nm wavelength makes it safe for all skin types, including darker skin, and it can also be used for mild skin tightening and treating rosacea.

Custom Facials

Facials cleanse, exfoliate, and nourish the skin using a combination of manual techniques and professional-grade products. We customize each facial based on your skin type, whether you are dealing with congestion, dullness, or sensitivity. Regular facials help maintain skin health, improve hydration, and support the results of other treatments like laser or microneedling.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion gently buffs away the outermost layer of dead skin cells using a diamond-tipped wand or fine crystals. This process smooths rough texture, brightens dull skin, and can reduce the appearance of mild discoloration or fine lines. It is a good option when you want exfoliation without downtime or peeling.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels use acids like glycolic, salicylic, or trichloroacetic acid to exfoliate the skin at different depths. Peels help treat acne, sun spots, rough patches, and early signs of aging by promoting cell turnover and revealing fresher skin underneath. Some peels produce light flaking while others offer deeper resurfacing with more dramatic results.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacials

IPL uses broad-spectrum light to treat pigment and vascular issues in the skin without removing surface layers. Unlike lasers, which emit a single wavelength, IPL releases multiple wavelengths that scatter and penetrate at varying depths. It treats brown spots, redness, and sun damage. A photofacial involves a series of gentle pulses that heat and break up discoloration so your body can gradually clear it.

Radiofrequency Treatments

Radiofrequency treatments use energy to gently heat the deep layers of skin to stimulate collagen production and improve firmness. These treatments work well for fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and mild skin laxity, especially when you want visible improvement with little downtime. Some devices use microneedles to deliver energy below the surface, while others apply it externally.

• Infini RF Radiofrequency: Infini RF combines microneedling with radiofrequency to treat deep wrinkles, acne scars, and sagging skin. It delivers energy through insulated needles, which allows us to reach the dermis while protecting the top layer, making it suitable for different skin types.
• Syneron Ematrix Radiofrequency: The Ematrix system uses fractionated radiofrequency to resurface skin and improve mild scarring, texture irregularities, and early signs of aging.
• Ellman Surgitron: The Surgitron uses radiofrequency for minor procedures like mole removal or treating raised lesions. It allows us to precisely remove unwanted growths with minimal disruption to the surrounding skin.

Combination Therapies

Combining advanced treatments can lead to more dramatic and longer-lasting results than using one method alone. Dr. Van Reken has personally undergone a combination of fractional CO2 laser, Infini RF, and PRP to treat his face and neck. The CO2 laser resurfaces the skin to improve texture, reduce wrinkles, and remove sun damage, while Infini RF tightens deeper layers and boosts collagen production. PRP enhances healing and supports skin regeneration by delivering growth factors directly into the treated areas, which can improve tone, hydration, and overall skin quality.

Specialized Laser and Light Treatments

• Madonna Eye Lift: We use a fractional CO2 laser around the eyes to tighten crepey skin, smooth fine lines, and reduce eyelid hooding without surgery. Often called the Madonna Lift, this treatment improves tone and texture in the upper and lower eyelids with minimal downtime compared to blepharoplasty.
• Laser Hair Removal: The Gentle YAG Pro Laser targets hair follicles with a 1064 nm wavelength that penetrates deeply and safely, even in darker skin types. It gradually reduces unwanted hair on the face and body, and also treats other concerns like facial veins and rosacea.
• Laser Tattoo Removal: PicoSure uses ultra-short pulses to shatter tattoo ink into tiny particles that the body can gradually clear. It works on most ink colors and typically requires fewer sessions than older technologies, with less damage to the surrounding skin.
• LED Red Light Therapy: Red light therapy promotes healing and reduces inflammation by delivering low-level light energy into the skin. We often use it after procedures to calm irritation or during acne treatments to help decrease breakouts and support skin repair.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Photodynamic therapy uses a light-sensitive medication followed by light exposure to destroy abnormal or damaged skin cells. We often recommend PDT for treating sun damage, precancerous lesions like actinic keratoses, and acne that does not respond to topical treatments. After applying the photosensitizing agent, we activate it using a specific light source, often combined with LED red light therapy to enhance the effects and reduce inflammation.

Microneedling & PRP

Microneedling creates microchannels in the skin to trigger collagen production and improve surface texture, fine lines, and scars. When we add platelet-rich plasma (PRP), either by applying it topically during treatment or injecting it directly, the healing response intensifies due to the concentrated growth factors in your blood. We use the CosmoPen microneedling device to treat the face, neck, and décolleté. PRP injections can also be used on their own to hydrate, brighten, and support skin regeneration.

Acne Treatments

We treat active acne using a combination of topical and oral medications, which may include prescription or nonprescription options depending on the severity and skin type. For deeper, painful breakouts, we can perform acne cyst drainage in-office, a quick procedure that helps relieve pressure and reduce inflammation. When breakouts are resistant or widespread, we may also recommend supportive treatments like photodynamic therapy, facials, TCA cross for ice pick scars, or chemical peels to calm the skin and reduce oil production.

Vein Treatments

• Sclerotherapy: Sclerotherapy treats small to medium spider veins by injecting a solution directly into the vein, which causes the vessel to collapse and gradually fade from view. We typically use this treatment for leg veins that are visible just beneath the skin’s surface.
• Laser Vein Removal: Laser vein removal uses light energy to heat and seal off visible facial or leg veins. We often use the Gentle YAG Pro Laser or Vbeam Perfecta for this, depending on the size and depth of the vessels. These treatments work well for broken capillaries, redness from rosacea, and small spider veins that are not ideal for injection.
• Endovenous Laser Ablation: Endovenous laser ablation treats larger, painful varicose veins by guiding a laser fiber directly into the affected vein and applying controlled heat. This causes the vein to close, rerouting blood flow to healthier vessels and relieving pressure and discomfort. Health insurance often covers this treatment when the veins cause symptoms like heaviness, swelling, or aching.

Skin Lesion, Tag, and Cancer Removal

We remove benign skin lesions like moles, skin tags, and growths using precise, minimally invasive methods that require little to no downtime. For raised moles, we often use radiofrequency, which allows us to smooth the area without cutting or stitches. Surface growths such as seborrheic keratoses and dermatosis papulose nigra respond well to curettage, where we gently scrape away the lesion after numbing the skin. When a lesion appears suspicious, we perform a biopsy or surgical excision to rule out or treat skin cancer.
